The WorkCenter enables business users themselves to build out visual, ad hoc workflows, and associate resources and information to each step in the process. These workflows can be adjusted as the need arises, and associated resources can be added or subtracted. WorkCenter is not a workflow engine that requires a process to be completely defined before publication (rules-based engine). Rather WorkCenter enables incremental building of a workflow, and correcting it along the way.

Is there any document version control in the system?

WorkCenter enables authorized users to view a History of documents, forms, and even segments of forms, as well as Twitter and Facebook postings. The WorkCenter system maintains a unique identifier for each document posted, in addition to providing a visible time/date stamp, and records who made the posting. It also allows users to employ their own naming conventions for documents and files, and to describe and keep notes on versions. Because these documents are stored in a database, each new version must be uploaded. All previous versions are maintained and can be retrieved.

Is it possible to see who is using the WorkCenter when I am online?

VirtualAgility can be set up to provide a "presence awareness" module for most installations.

How does WorkCenter deal with access security?

The VirtualAgility permission structure includes create, read only, update, delete and no access, and typically employs existing LDAP or other directory services for authenticating users and managing groups. Access to information is role-based, via groups, and permissions are modifiable by authorized users.

How can I be certain that my data is protected from unauthorized use?

VirtualAgility systems have a robust permissioning authentication process, and also encrypt files when they are transferred within the system. There are also discrete, separate workspaces that can be set up to completely segregate organizations, or allow specific levels of sharing among groups. Perimeter security is provided by the customer’s protocols. Full security controls are available upon request.

How will WorkCenter leverage existing technology?

VirtualAgility utilizes the familiar software and hardware systems groups use today. Built on an advanced SOA framework, VirtualAgility patented software links to, launches, or loads into a shared workspace, all the key resources needed by each group. An open architecture, it is a J2EE compliant, Java-based system running on Linux or other operating systems. It can quickly provide an integrated view of diverse systems, across departments or divisions, with no programming or development. Innovative "connector" technologies — SmartLinks — enable authorized users to link directly into source data at the source, preserving ownership and control protocols. VirtualAgility can also normalize data from multiple systems, and present and augment data from disparate applications in an integrated view.

Where do files reside on VirtualAgility?

VirtualAgility loads files and URL links onto a file application server. In an ASP or "Cloud" model, that server resides in an ultra-secure hosting facility. In a license or a "Ready to Run" appliance model, that server likely resides behind your corporate firewall in a data center, or in your secure hosting site.
